About Chopper's

Our History

Chopper’s Sports Grill was named after Robert “ Chopper “ Traviglini (1932-1999) who was the former trainer of the Denver Nuggets. His character and style, as well as his big heart, made him legendary in Denver, and across the country. In October of 1996 Chopper and his partners opened Chopper’s Sports Grill in the Cherry Creek area of Denver CO. They renovated the old Rick’s Café building at 80 South Madison Street and envisioned a casual neighborhood watering hole where you could get a fine meal and enjoy a drink with friends. It has evolved into “The Place” to watch a local sporting event with that “at the game” feel complete with all the bells, lights, and whistles. The place comes alive with energy and excitement when the home teams score. 5280 Magazine The Denver Post, ESPN, The Rocky Mountain News, Westword and Citysearch.com have all recognized Chopper’s as “Best Sports Bar” and “Best Patio”.

The restaurant has become well-known for its Chopper’s Burger, Wings and Nach-O-Mama nachos. Menu items are house-made with high quality ingredients. As a proud local Colorado bar, about 75% of our beers are home-grown Colorado brewed beers on draft or in bottles or cans.

Chopper’s has been a game day headquarters for sports fans for decades. Our 165” HD video wall along with over 30 other large HD TVs means there’s not a bad seat in the house to catch a game. In addition to our dining room and large bar area, we have a patio and game room, perfect for individual dining or private or semi-private events.
